Other Workshops and Professional Development at your Site
Are you an education professional who would like to find out more about how you can support children thrive in the domains of communication, play and everyday activities? At Talking Matters, we provide support and information on a range of issues relevant to professionals who work with children in the northern and southern suburbs. We can also travel to the Fleurieu Peninsula, Barossa Valley and Riverlands. You can choose from a range of packages either designed with a budget in mind, or specially written to your requirements.
Talking Matters has an extensive history in providing workshops and professional development sessions run by speech pathologists and occupational therapists to staff within early, primary and higher education settings. Over the last 5 years we have also partnered with a number of early childhood educations settings to support their use of Gowrie Innovative Solutions Project funding.
Interactive workshops can be provided in your setting for your entire team for an hourly rate. Training whole teams together also helps to ensure your team support each other in implementing the new skills and information they learn.
Certificates of attendance will be provided at conclusion of each of the sessions. Each session is run by at least one of our professional team, often two of them, and are very practical in their approach. Our primary goal is to help people supporting children in our community. We want you to leave with a number of things you can easily put in place your very next working day. We are always interested in partnering with our local community and are happy to discuss including your team's training needs into our schedule to help you achieve your team development goals.
Workshop topics available at your site
We offer training sessions for parents, teachers and support staff. Trainings are accompanied by resources and handouts. Interactive workshops and seminars have previously shared information on child development topics such as:
- Understanding your child's communication skills and needs
- Understanding your child's emotional, sensory and motor skills
- Supporting children with assistive technology
- Understanding developmental milestones for communication, physical, emotional and social development
- Understanding developmental diagnoses
- Strategies for supporting children thrive at home and in learning environments
- Strategies for supporting children through life's transitions, for example moving from Kindy to Primary School.
If you a topic of interest is not listed above, please contact us to explore further. We are happy to help!
Consultative, on the floor visits are also available for when you need more individualised and responsive support. Perhaps your team would get the most benefit out of a more informal visit to review and discuss areas of need, where they can ask specific questions and be supported in forming strategies with input from one of our team members? For further information or to discuss options, please contact our office by phoning (08) 8255 7137 and ask for one of our managers to return your call or send us an email enquiry.
